The Production House has over 15 years experience in supplying high quality, great value for money print. Initially launched as Fruit Salad Design in the mid 1990's as a design and print company that helped pioneer group printing in NZ - initially collecting business card orders from all around the country and then 'ganged' them up (also known as group printing) to achieve excellent economies of scale that saved the client hundreds of dollars.
With group printing proving so successful with business cards, the company then expanded into other key stationery items, such as letterheads, brochures, rackcards, postcards, flyers, stickers and magnets. It then took on its own digital printing equipment in early 2000 continued to diversify into other products.
Fruit Salad was then bought out, and Patch Design & Print Solutions was born. A heavy focus of the business was developing a strong online presence. With very little 'off-the-shelf' web to print solutions available, Patch developed custom software that allowed the management of workflow at multiple sites - and from there The Production House concept emerged.
Production could now handled from multiple facilities utilising real-time, in-house, production based software to help keep track of all jobs. This ensured a high quality finish through specialisation of each production method and redundancy backup for key products to ensure timely delivery of your goods. It was the key to The Production House being able to continue production during a devastating earthquake and 2 major snowfalls to hit Christchurch all within the space of a year.
Now part of The Caxton Group, The Production House continues to provide some of NZ's well known brands as well as many small to medium enterprises throughout NZ with high quality, cost effective print and promotional products. Back to Top
The Production Process: How does it all work?Once you've placed your order, it's processed and queued for a designer / mac operator to begin working on. Using a range of software tools, we will design, create, update or operate on the digital file and either supply you with a proof or (if it is a straight reorder) action it immediately for printing. First proof:If you're needing something designed from scratch or rebranded then the first proof is often a good starting point. We then happily amend, adjust or revise the design, as advised by you, to achieve the look and feel you're after. Back to Top
Approving your job:Once approved, your job is then prioritised for production, or for sending to you (if only design work is required). Back to Top

RIGHT POLICY - SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITYAs a print company, we have an obligation to the businesses we promote AND to the general community.
- It is our goal to promote companies to the best of our ability utilising simple, high quality, cost-effective methods.
- We will be socially responsible for what we allow to be promoted through design and print, within our community.
Therefore it is our aim to produce high quality and good value print material that fall within the following areas ...
R - Respect for others and life (ie. people, culture, life)Excludes any promotion or practice that degrades or demeans another or seeks to offend others or promote abuse / death. This may include abortion, euthenasia etc.
I - Intention or motive is right / just. This is more subjective, so a general guideline would be to exclude any promotion where the intention behind the promotion is to manipulate using say sex, pornography, violence, fear, guilt or any other tactic that would be deemed to be unacceptable.
G - General AudienceExcludes most promotions that requires the participant to be 16 or over. This would mainly be due to violence, language, or sexual content, but may also include gambling, cigarettes, massage parlours, adult shops etc.
H - Honest.Excludes any promotion that does not give an honest representation / or promotes a product that is not honest (although it may be legal). Examples of this could be Radar Detectors, licence plate covers that obscure speed cameras photos, promotions that contain misrepresentations, misleading statements or offers, gossip, slander etc.
T - The LawExcludes anything that falls outside of the National Advertising Standards Authority or is deemed illegal within the country(s) of operation.
If we have a query on any one of these points when handling a job, then we will discuss the material with the client supplying the work prior to starting the job.
Any work that clearly does not meet one or more of our RIGHT checks will be refused. Back to Top
We respect the environment and our community:All paper stocks come from 'sustainable resource' and we ensure we minimise the amount of wasted paper by ganging up similar jobs together. We also commercially recycle what offcuts (which are minimal) that are left.
We also take a responsible approach for what content material we print. We believe print is important - as long as it honestly informs and does not offend. That is why we developed the RIGHT policy. A simple 5 step system for ensuring we only print what we'd be happy to put our name too. Our philosophy has always been - 'would we be able to show our kids - or would we need to hide it?'
It's a pretty bold stand in a competitive print market - however we're not going to compromise our core values for the sake of making an extra dollar. So we will decline to print any job that contravenes our 5 step check. So if you see anything offensive in print media - it won't have been printed by us. Back to Top
